Vegan Cinnamon Rolls

Vegan Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

There’s really nothing better than hot cinnamon rolls fresh out of the oven.

Living with Joe makes it imperative to have an amazing vegan recipe on hand. He’s a cinnamon roll connoisseur. Fortunately for me, my Aunt Darlene makes the best damn cinnamon rolls in our family, and she’s more than happy to share the recipe. Just a few swaps and we’re in business.

The Recipe

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F before starting the recipe.

You will need:

  • Handful of flour
  • 1-lb Trader Joe’s plain dough
  • 1/4 cup melted Earth Balance butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar in the raw (or granulated, but raw is better!)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbs water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Step 1: Roll out the dough.

Sprinkle a handful of flour on the counter and roll out your dough.

Step 2: Butter up the dough.

Melt butter in bowl, and lightly brush the entire slab.

Step 3: Sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar.

Did you notice that there was no form of measurement for these two ingredients? Go crazy. More, less. This is the best part, and this is a no-judgement zone.

Step 4: Roll it up.

Easy enough.

Step 5: Cut your buns.

Cut the log into 6 even pieces. Drool over how good the butter, cinnamon, and sugar looks oozing out of the middle.

Step 6: Arrange in a round pan.

See below? Follow suit. Put in your 325 degree oven and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until golden.

Step 7: Mix your icing.

While the cinnamon rolls are filling your kitchen with godly aromas, prepare your icing. In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 tbs water, and 1 tsp vanilla. If the consistency is too watery, add more powdered sugar. If it’s too thick, you know the drill.

Step 8: Drizzle with icing.

Once those bad boys are done, take them out and ice them immediately. You want the heat from the cinnamon buns to allow the icing to spread easily.

Step 9: Indulge.

Seriously… grab your favorite color Fiestaware or plate and melt into the floor with one of these. Incredible.
