Vegan Burger & Fries

Vegan Burger Fries Recipe

Confession time: I love burgers. There’s nothing better than sinking your teeth into a real “meaty” burger – and when I say “meaty,” I think you know I mean veggies! Burgers and fries, man… so freaking good. It’s time to get all-American, baby.

The Burger

I fell in love with this recipe from fellow blogger, Peachy Palate. The recipe below is adapted from this! [Thanks for the inspiration, Michelle!]

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup cooked black beans
  • 2 sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed up
  • 1/4 cup brown rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbs ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbs coriander
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup almond meal
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Step 1: In a large bowl, combine beans, sweet potatoes, spices, almond meal, and flaxseed.

Step 2: Sauté onions and garlic until lightly cooked, and add to large bowl.

Step 3: Mash it up!

Step 4: Add cooked brown rice, and combine.

Step 5: Shape into patties and cook over medium heat until lightly browned on each side. Freeze leftovers! This recipe is good for about 4-5. Extras for later are the best :)

Toss on your favorite vegan bun and add ALL the fixings! My FAVORITE is Earth Balance mayo mixed with ketchup (also known as “fancy sauce,” props to Step Brothers), tomato, lettuce, and… BANANA PEPPERS! Love me some banana peps!!

The Fries

It’s french fry time, baby! You will need:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 1-2 tbs olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Step 1: Cut up fries – long-ways.

Step 2: Toss in a bowl with olive oil and salt.

Step 3: Bake at 450 F for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

Mmmmm fries. Love potatoes… this are so simple and so addictive! You could do the same with sweet potato fries, too.

Oh man… to die for, people. xx Bianca

I love vegan burgers and fries! :) This burger looks very “bite”-worthy!

    1. Thank you! It definitely was :-D

  3. Does it stick together or does it fall apart? Because veggie burgers, especially without eggs never seem to stick together into a patty.

    1. It definitely did not stick together like I would have wanted it to, but it didn’t crumble… so it was easy to just push back together!

If you find a recipe that doesn’t fall apart, please let me know!! <3

  4. Trying this soon! Monday night I’m thinking! :)

  5. This looks delicious and crispy I the outside – a rarity in homemade vegan burgers. I’ll have to give it a try!

  7. Could you make some sort if burger using soft tofu? Or could i use tofu in the burger mix somehow? Thank you ^_−☆

    1. Hi Vivvi – Of course! I actually need to try that sometime soon… I am sure it would be delicious. I would probably mix it with lentils or beans to help keep it together :) Let me know if you give it a go – experimenting is half the fun ;) xx
