Miyoko’s Kitchen Vegan Cheese Review

Miyoko's Kitchen Cheese Review

Okay people, if you have been following along and know me… you know I do not like vegan cheese. I think it tastes fake and just doesn’t compare to the real thing… so I just omit it from my diet all together.

Holy shit, I take it all back. ALL HAIL MIYOKO’S GOURMET CHEESE PRODUCTS. This amazing and kind company sent me over some samples, and I couldn’t stop myself from inhaling them. No joke. So, I’m here to give a brief review for anyone who may also have trouble finding a good vegan cheese, or you know, someone who just wants to add to their favorites.

Aged English Smoked Farmhouse

This was my favorite of the two. It kinda of reminded me of… a way better version of CrackerBarrel brand sharp cheddar – but with a subtle smokey flavor. I actually ate this one by itself mostly, but also used it on pretzels. And when I say used it on pretzels, I mean sat on the couch with the entire block of cheese and repeatedly dipped pretzels into it until it disappeared. Oops. It really has a flavor that keeps you coming back for more… it was actually quite dangerous to have in my fridge.

Mt. Vesuvius Black Ash

I felt like this one was very similar to the smoked farmhouse, but without the smokey flavor. It had a much more buttery taste to it. While it is absolutely stunning with the black ash, I would probably pass up on it, because I am not really a fan of the ash itself. It took away from the experience, but I think this would be a good choice if you are entertaining and want something to stand out and intrigue your guests. Ash aside, the taste was still great!

Okay, so moving past taste for a second, I want to also point out the fact that Miyoko’s Kitchen also donates 1% of all online sales to rotating non-profits. I love when I find a company who does this, and it makes me all the more likely to purchase from them again. And you best believe that I will be buying from Miyoko’s Kitchen often. I’m really interested in trying the sundried tomato garlic and aged english sharp farmhouse. I think those will be in my stomach verrrry soon. For a full list of products, visit them online.

Anyone else a fan of Miyoko’s Kitchen? I’d love to hear some of your favorites! xx bianca

  1. Damnit! I keep hearing rave reviews on this stuff! Guess I’m gonna have to break down and order some.

    1. It’s sooo worth it. The farmhouse cheddar is innnncredible! Keep me posted on your thoughts :)

  2. Agreed! The only vegan cheese worth eating as far as I’m concerned. Actually Kite Hill isn’t too bad. Have you tried that?

    1. I haven’t tried that! I will need to look it up and grab some soon! Thanks for recommendation :)

  3. Oooh I looove Miyoko’s! We only have four flavours here (I think it only arrived in Aus late last year) but I love them. Garlic and herb is my favourite of the selection we have. I’m actually in the process of culturing some cheese now following a recipe from Miyoko’s book – I hope it turns out half as good as hers!

    1. I cannot wait to try the garlic and herb one! That sounds great – I will need to check out the book and give it a shot. I hope yours comes out awesome!! <3
