Disney Honeymoon Plans + Tips

Disney World Honeymoon

HI! This post is probably going to be long and consist of tons of yelling and excessive [!!!] because it’s all about our dreamy honeymoon in DISNEY! Disney, yes. I think I’ve said it before on here… but yes we are going to Disney because we are literally 2 big kids. It doesn’t matter if we go every year… there is just no place we’d rather be or celebrate the start of our marriage than the most magical place on Earth. Rollercoasters, delicious vegan food, fireworks, shows, shopping, pool, ahhhh. It’s everything. We’re also doing Universal for 2 days, AKA THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER! Eeeeeee! I haven’t been to Universal in at least a decade, so you can imagine my excitement.

I thought it would be fun to share some of our plans (I am quite a planner – down to pool time) and some of what I’m packing. Just a little peak into my travel bag and life ;)

Warning: really long post ahead.

Of course, once we get back I will be sharing some of our experiences – particularly what I ate in the park each day. You know how much I love talking about eating vegan in Disney. Here, here, and here proves that.

(Is anyone else here as neurotic about vaca planning? Someone please stand up with me.)

Dinner Reservations

Let’s start with food because food is my life. I locked in reservations at the following:

Spice Road Table (dinner) – They have this incredible vegetarian platter that I need in my life, plus the patio area is on the water and adorable. I think it will be a nice, light romantic dinner. I’m really looking forward to this place.

Coral Reef (dinner) – I am so looking forward to this place, especially because they have a vegan dish right on menu. It’s made with chik’n and looks incredible from what I have seen. Plus, the atmosphere here looks nice.

Be Our Guest (dinner) – A must, especially for our honeymoon. The perfect blend of fancy and nostalgic. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie.

Tusker House (breakfast) – We went here last time for lunch, and have to come back and experience breakfast. I am pretty sure this is my favorite restaurant on all Disney property. The buffet is like 50% vegan and is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!

Via Napoli (dinner) – Vegan pizza piled high with tomato sauce and veggies… I’m so in. Perfect for this pizza-crazy couple.

Tokyo Dining (dinner) – Joe is very excited about Tokyo dining. I’m not into sushi or seaweed salad, but I hear they offer rice and steamed veggies for vegans. Either way, I am just excited because Joe is excited. Plus, it looks stunning.

We always end up making more dinner reservations and fly by the seat of our pants for breakfast. Other than Tusker House, we usually like to just grab something quick and light at the hotel cafeteria to save money and get our asses to the park ASAP. Tusker House will definitely be a treat.

Disney + Entertainment

Okay, so obviously rides are everything and I’ll be going buck-wild in the parks. I’ve made all my fast past reservations and have the app downloaded and ready to roll. SO, rides aside. I’m so excited to enjoy some of the night life and entertainment in Disney. Joe keeps reminding me that we need to remember to slow down and enjoy everything and just take it as is – we still want this to feel like a honeymoon and not rush around like we usually do. It will be tough for me, but I am going to try! I am especially looking forward to seeing La Nouba one night in Disney Springs. I’ve seen it a while back, but Joe never has… and that makes me very excited. I know he’s going to love it. I also cannot wait to finally get to Erin McKenna’s vegan bakery – I’ve heard nothing but amazing things!

In Hollywood Studios, they have the new Star Wars Spectacular show and I am dying to see it (obviously). Crossing my fingers that it happens on a night we are there.

Of course, we’ll be watching Illuminations in Epcot and Wishes in the Magic Kingdom. These are musts for me. But mostly, I think I am excited to relax, stroll, and explore Disney Springs. That’s adult and honeymoon-like, right?

Universal

We’re spending 2 days – one day at Universal Studios and one day at Islands of Adventure. Oh man… I have not been in so long, and there are so many new rides. I am looking most forward to the new Skull Island ride and the Hulk (my parents never let us go on as kids – I’M SO READY NOW). But honestly… nothing compares to my excitement for Harry Potter World – AAAHHHH. Having finally read and watched all the movies (very late to this party) I am dyyyyying to experience this. D-Y-I-N-G. I have a feeling that this just maybe the highlight to our honeymoon but… will report back on that ;)

I’ve heard Universal isn’t very vegan-friendly, so I will be packing some snacks for the park. Probably some larabars, nuts, and fruit. If you’ve been, let me know what some of my options are. I think I heard somewhere that the Three Broomsticks has vegan options – and pumpkin juice is vegan! Hey, at least the pumpkin juice is vegan. If I can find some vegan candies in Honeydukes, I’ll be good to go.

What I’m Packing

Joe had an awesome idea to buy a portable charger… especially since our phones will be drained after using the Disney app all day in the parks and taking photos. The last thing we want is a dead battery – so we opted for this. We love it!

A couple of my favorite outfits… especially the one for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter [!!]

I’m packing a wide variety of clothes, especially because October temps can vary. The highs seem to be high 70s, low 80s, and the night temps can drop into the low 60s. Lots of tees and shorts, but also leggings, jeans, sweaters, and zip-ups for nighttime fun. Basically – anything that looks nice layered!

Oh, let’s talk FEET. Every time I go, I end up with hurt feet and blisters and complaining and crying my way through the parks by the end of the trip. I am DETERMINED to not have this happen. I’ve done nothing but research and prepare this time around – especially since we will be there for 7 days versus our normal 5. Some new essentials that I read up on and had to buy: moisture-wick socks, healing band-aid cushions for toes, natural seal liquid bandages. Crossing my fingers that all of this will work in my favor. There is nothing worse than bad feet in Disney.

As for shoes, I am packing a variety. It’s important to change up your shower to avoid getting blisters in the same spot. I’m packing a ton, including: my Nike Roshe, Birkenstocks, Crocs (don’t judge me – they are so comfortable and pretty cute), Sandals, Flip-flops (even though I don’t usually like them… for the pool and all), and my Vans Slip-Ons (I could never travel without them). I hope this covers it and hope they are all kind to my feet! I mean, 6 pairs of shoes… it should cover it, yeah?

Wow, I did not mean for this post to be THIS long. Kinda got carried away there. But really, I am so beyond excited. Nothing makes me happier than being in the most magical place on Earth with the love of my life. I’m just so excited to celebrate and have the time of our lives.

Any other Disney fans here? I’d love to hear any tips or tricks that you have. Or if you know something special that would be awesome for our honeymoon – please, shout it out! I’m down to stray a bit from the itinerary (seriously – give me a reason to!) Haha!

Looking forward to updating you guys when we’re back. I have 2 posts scheduled while we are away – and then I’ll be back to share all my vegan experiences with you. I am going to try my very best to unplug in Disney – Joe, too. Phones for pictures and the Disney app only! I think we should be able to stick to it… Have an awesome week ahead! xx bianca
