Most people who know me know that I am a sucker for anything lavender. Lavender iced coffee, lattes, iced tea, muffins, scones… if it had lavender in the title, I’m going to want to try it. Since a lot of coffee shop and bakeries around here don’t usually carry lavender drinks and baked goods, I grabbed my own lavender buds and made this sweet syrup. It’s perfect for homemade iced coffee, lattes, or baking. Plus, it was really easy!
Slowly but surely, we are chipping away at the nursery. This is probably what I have been looking the most forward to – I love decorating/redecorating in general, so a fresh new space to be filled is a dream. It’s hard to imagine what it will look like when half the furniture isn’t in yet and I’ve been just picking up pieces here and there that stick out to me. So, I thought it would be fun (and helpful for me) to lay out some of the items we’ve gotten so far and some that we will be getting. I’m a visual person and happen to love mood boards in general.
People keep asking what the nursery theme is and honestly… I am not quite sure! I usually say it’s just a bright and airy space. Think wildflowers, fruits, pops of color, and animals of all kinds. I initially was thinking a jungle theme, but I love all animals and want to include any and all! As you can see – we got a sweet bunny, cat, AND white tiger above. I’m serious when I say any and all animals. Love.
So really, it is just going to be an eclectic/bohemian/natural type style. As long as it is bright, sunny, and colorful, I am happy.
So here is a look at what we’ve got going on so far.
If you know me personally or have been to my home, you know that I am pretty much obsessed with pink himalayan salt lamps, candles, and even the edible stuff. At my wedding, we had a candle on every table, and in my home, I have lamps in (almost) every room.
To be honest, I love them mostly because they add warmth and bring a gorgeous glow to the room – but, there are also benefits to these lamps (or so, it it claimed). I can’t say for certain that all of these are true, but I do know that they definitely have a calming effect – and that is enough for me. When I was going through a rough/stressful period in my life, I used to get up extra early, turn on my lamp, and just relax. It was and still is my favorite routine to start my day on the right note. When we are lounging at night (or even while I bulk cook on the weekends), I leave that thing running hot. There’s just something very comforting about it!
Hi friends! I’ve been so excited to write this post, but kept putting it off because I wanted to really sort through and take some cool pics to go along with it. Recycling baby clothes – weeeee!
One of the very first things I did when I found out we were having a girl was ask family and friends if they knew anyone tossing baby clothes. The fact that babies need to be changed multiple times a day along with the time they actually fit into the clothes you buy… I did not want to spend a ton on it. We’re trying to save in any way we can – and I wanted to start with her wardrobe.
Before I even posted this to my friends and family, my sweet friend Lauren messaged me to let me know she had bags and bags of girl clothes for me. Lauren – you are an angel. You have no idea how much it means to me! Plus, Lauren dresses her little girl in the very sweetest clothes. Needless to say, I was thrilled! After sorting through bag after bag, I ended up with a very large and overflowing trash bag full of months 0-6 (with some 6-9 sprinkled in!) I have the best friends in my life, and I am so grateful for all the overwhelming love and support. There’s literally nothing better than thrifting, recycling, and reusing.
When we found out the gender… basically, it was all over. Let the shopping begin. And when I found out it’s a GIRL on top of that… eeeee! Let’s just say it took everything in me to not spend my entire paycheck on Etsy items.
I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorites – you know, so maybe it won’t just be my ovaries exploding over here alone. Haha!
Like most, I’m very much in love with LUSH products. Aside from their wide variety of products with great quality with amazing scents, they are also a mostly vegan and cruelty-free brand. It doesn’t get much better than that. Over time, I’ve tried a ton of their products – from hair care to bath bombs [!!] to face masks. They’ve all been a treat, but some of my favorite products are below. These are the products I can’t get enough of (except also the lettuce face mask, but I didn’t have it on hand). Just thought I would share and possibly inspire a few of you to give them a try.
If anything, just please grab the sleepy hand + body lotion when it is back in season (winter). It is what sweet dreams are made of.
I’m absolutely bursting at the seams right now. I am NOT good at holding in secrets and this lime-sized one has been absolutely killing me. We’re expecting a daughter in the warm, sunny days of September 2017!
There are no words to express how blessed and thrilled Joe and I are to be able to share this news – it still hasn’t fully hit us, quite honestly. But each day, it becomes a little more real. It’s pure magic.
Artistic and creative spirits are some of my favorite people. Not only do I work on a design time myself, but I’ve just always connected to creatives (I mean, I majored in English/Creative Writing with a minor in art). That said, I love names that evoke that same artistic aura. These may or may not resonate with you the same way they do me, but here’s a list of names that I personally compiled that I feel captures a creative spirit. Enjoy the inspiration – whether you are a name lover like me or a mama bear on the hunt for the perfect moniker. xx
I love when music just feels pretty – here’s a playlist of some of my favorite dreamy, mesmerizing, and thought-evoking songs. I hope you enjoy – happy easy listening. xx b
I wrote this same post in the past, and it has been such a hit. Being as obsessed with names as I am, I wanted to follow up with a part 2 – there are plenty more indie and boho names out there, and they are a great addition to part 1 of this post – no repeats! I hope you don’t mind ;)
