Packing for Vacation: Vegan Treats in Tow

Guess who’s going to Disney tomorrow?

excited

I’m a crazy Disney fanatic and super proud of it. Seriously, eat, sleep, Disney. This has been the case since I was a kid, stemming from having two parents who took us to Disney almost every year. I named my cat Minnie, for Christ’s sake. Anyways, I’m going and I’ve been counting down to this day since we booked it 8 months ago. I did my research on all things vegan in Disney and have my traveling treats packed and ready to go. Whether you are traveling now or later, here are a few ideas to keep in mind. Traveling as a vegan does not have to suck!

Treats in Tow

#1: Cool Mint Chocolate Clif Bars. These babies will fill you up and make you feel like you’re eating candy for breakfast. I like both of those things, and I think you do, too. Also, they contain caffeine… to help wake your ass up after staying out for 3AM Extra Magic Hours.

#2: Trader Joe’s Apple Fruit Bars. Need a mid-morning snack to get yourself through the long-ass walk from Space Mountain to Splash Mountain? Yeah, me too. These apple fruit bars are delicious, filling, and have only 90 calories. For 99 cents, you just can’t go wrong. Strawberry is my favorite!

#3: Walnuts. Get those omega-3s in, baby. I have been on a super walnut kick, so I grabbed a bag for travels. Just 1/4 cup is all you need to nosh on for energy and satiation. I may even toss some almonds in the mix to step up my nut game.

#4: Gin Gins Ginger Chews. I never leave home without them. I even got Kate into them since I started stashing bags at my desk. We’re hooked. Someone send help.

#5: Trader Joe’s Organic Fruit Wraps. While everyone around you on the plane is getting down with the shortbread cookies from the flight attendant, you can wave around your adult fruit roll-up and make everyone jealous. Sweet and satisfying. Apple Wildberry rocks.

#6: Bananas. You just can’t go wrong. I may not be traveling with them, but will be picking up a banana bushel ASAP.

#7: Orbit Gum. I don’t chew a lot of gum due to the aspartame content, but I like to have a pack for the plane ride. Joe’s a fan of this, too. Last time we went to Disney, he freaked out because I lost our pack right before we boarded. Oops. Sorry Joe’s unpoppable ears. Fortunately, the Wrigley Company has confirmed that there are no ingredients of animal origin used in Orbit. SCORE, because I love me some Sweet Mint & Bubble Mint.

#8: Dried Apricots. Of all the dried fruit varieties, apricots are my favorite. Packed and ready to nosh on while in a long line!

#9: Trader Joe’s Giant Peruvian Inca Corn. Corn nuts are a must-have in the Bianca & Joe household – and yeah, while traveling. They kinda taste like Fritos… but BETTER. These will fix my salt-craving.

#10: Carrot Sticks. Love me some stix. I’ll be bringing my own small bag, and then when I run out, I’ll buy in Disney. They have packs with celery all over the park, and that makes me a happy vegan.

#11: Red Vines. Just a bit of candy, no? My new thing is Red Vines… totally vegan and way better for you than Twizzlers (somehow). Happy to eat these during Fantasmic and all firework displays.

Aside from my snacks, I am so excited to get to Disney and enjoy ALL their vegan options. FYI, there are sooo many!! Disney is super accommodating to vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free people, and any other allergy you can think of. I made sure all my reservations are properly noted with VEGAN and have read multiple sites on vegan Disney snacks and treats in the park. I don’t think I am going to miss a thing! [SERIOUSLY, even the BUTTERED POPCORN is vegan in Disney – they use vegetable oil!] Pretzels, veggie snacks, and PINEAPPLE DOLE WHIP.

Yep, I’m good.

If you are a Disney lover like me, you may want to join this online Veg Disney community. I LOVE THIS FB GROUP. Ask questions or simply monitor what others have experienced. It’s my go-to!

Now that I have hyped myself up for Disney, I think I should stop writing this. I’M TOO EXCITED. GAH!!! I will be gone from January 10th-14th, but will be back to share all of my experiences. I cannot wait to give you all a Disney dining play-by-play.

Oh, and show of hands, please? WHO ELSE LOVES DISNEY?!

Okay now for real, peace out. You can find me on Space Mountain. xx Bianca
