My Vegan Trader Joe’s Haul

Trader Joe's Vegan Haul

Hi friends :)

I hope life is good with all of you – nothing crazy going on over here. We’ve been enjoying the quiet of January and getting ready to go to Florida in February. My parents have a place down there, so I am excited for warm weather and to explore Delray, West Palm Beach, and possibly Miami. I hear there are a ton of vegan/plant-based spots, and I’ll surely post about it once I get back. I’m so excited!! If you have any recommendations for me, please don’t hesitate to share in the comments.

Other than that, I thought I would just write a simple post today sharing my usual vegan haul from Trader Joe’s. We go shopping once a week, which has worked for us for years now. It’s one of our favorite things to do together. While I definitely grab some speciality items from TJ’s every once in a while (I mean, they always have new awesome products), we stick to pretty much the basics. I usually come up with some meal ideas beforehand to make sure I grab everything I’ll need for the week.

So, take a look below if you’re interested to see I’m grabbing at the grocery store. I hope it inspires your own shopping list, too!

Also note – not all of this stuff in the pic was from Trader Joe’s (we also go to Price Rite around here… like the grapes, Goya beans, bananas, sweet potatoes, and ginger from what I can tell in these pics). But TJ’s definitely has this stuff, too.

Rolled Oats – these are inexpensive and come in a huge bag. Perfect for my overnight oats.

Frozen Fruit – the semi-dried apricots and peach slices are my faaaavorite! I love to snack on them at night when I need something sweet.

Fresh Fruit – I almost always grab grapes and pineapple (my favorite to snack on) but also some strawberries and blueberries this time around because they looked great. A TON of bananas because I like to keep 6 or 7 as a snack during the week and then freeze the rest for banana ice cream and smoothies. Avocado, always.

Fresh Veggies – my go-tos are always romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, celery, and onions. I usually grab one leafy green – whether it is kale, spinach, escarole, swiss chard, etc. This time I opted for kale.

Proteins – always stocking up on canned beans. My favorite are pink, black, and cannellini beans. I also either grab tofu or tempeh (usually tempeh) but this week in particular I was craving tofu. I like to cube and bake it to add to stir-fry and salads during the week.

Sweets – coconut flakes and coconut chips are great toppings for smoothies, and I don’t grab them every week, but this week I had to stock back up. I also grabbed maple syrup because I do prefer to use this if I do need to sweeten something up (usually just a dash for overnight oats). Unsweetened cocoa powder is awesome for smoothies – I always have it on hand.

Plant-based Milk – my favorite at Trader Joe’s is the vanilla almond milk because it tastes awesome and doesn’t have Carrageenan in it (for once!)

Fresh Ginger – just a huge chunk of ginger to add to tea, water, smoothies, stir-fry etc. Love having it on hand.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Definitely let me know if so, because I can make it a habit to share what I have been buying. I think it’s fun to see what people have in their shopping cart – just me, or? xx bianca

I haven’t been to Miami but VegNews highlighted it in a short travel article in their December issue. If you don’t have a copy I could take a picture and send it to you.
