Vegan-Friendly Hot Spots in Rhode Island

Vegan-Friendly Hot Spots in Rhode Island

Hi friends – especially local friends :)

For the smallest state, we really pack a lot of vegan and plant-based options here. Joe and I are always looking for a new place to try, and quite honestly, we never have too much trouble. Rhode Island is extremely vegan friendly, especially our Providence capital. I’ve reviewed a ton of local places on here before – you can find more posts HERE, HERE, and HERE (this one is particularly great for coffee lovers). Since my last post, we’ve fallen in love with a whole new batch of spots.

If you’re local or in the New England area, I encourage you to give these places your business – they’re all wonderful.

Raku Sakura

Plant-Based Diet: What I Ate

This is our new favorite Japanese place. They are very accommodating and we always have the best service. You can order most things without meat or egg – you just have to ask. I like to grab the vegetable fried rice with no egg, veggie nim chow rolls (they sub avocado for the meat), steamed edamame, and if I am really hungry… I highly recommend the red coconut curry with veggies and tofu. Always satisfied with this place! Plus, it is very close to home and we love grabbing takeout.

Mokka Coffeehouse

Plant-Based Diet: What I Ate

Aside from having AMAZING coffee and lattes (with soy and almond milk options), Mokka has the a daily vegan African Peanut Soup. I crave this baby – it is so creamy, spicy, and warming. The fact that it is on the menu everyday makes me love them even more. The place itself is eclectic and fun – lots of camel/Moroccan-inspired decor. It’s quickly become my new favorite coffeehouse. And for warm days, they have an awesome patio area.

I can’t believe I haven’t added Bagelz to any list yet – this was my spot in college, since there is one right on campus (they have two locations). These are the best bagels in RI, and the very best part – they carry Tofutti cream cheese! My usual is a spinach bagel with tofutti + tomato. They also have hummus, jam, and peanut butter. Sundried tomato bagel with hummus is a very close second! Plus, I love going here because it gives me all the nostalgia. Miss college.

Salvation Cafe

Plant-Based Diet: What I Ate
My new favorite spot in Newport – I honestly can’t believe it took me this long to get there. Salvation Cafe is not only visually awesome (bold colors, eclectic decor, twinkly lights) but they offer a vegan Pad Thai dish on the menu year-round. It is – hands down – the best pad thai I have ever had. Veggies, tofu, noodles, and peanuts… there is nothing better! They also have other vegan specials frequently – including crispy spinach (YUM).

Keenwah Superfood Eatery

Plant-Based Diet: What I Ate
Another Newport spot, Keenwah is a cool cafe with lots of vegan-friendly options. Burritos, sandwiches, juices, etc. The menu has a lot to offer and you can grab something quick if you are on the go. I enjoy the tempeh patty breakfast sandwich with avocado and vegan cheese (you can also get tofu).

Shayna’s Place

Plant-Based Diet: What I Ate

Love this cozy breakfast nook in Wickford – right on Brown Street. They offer vegan smoothies, coffee, and the most incredible avocado, lemon, and sprouts toast. That alone is worth it! I’ve also gotten amazing vegan pastry here (chocolate peanut butter brownie, to be exact… so good).

Any local friends out there? Would love to hear if you’ve been to these spots or if you have any suggestions! xx bianca
