Nursery Mood Board

The Friendly Fig Nursery Mood Board

Slowly but surely, we are chipping away at the nursery. This is probably what I have been looking the most forward to – I love decorating/redecorating in general, so a fresh new space to be filled is a dream. It’s hard to imagine what it will look like when half the furniture isn’t in yet and I’ve been just picking up pieces here and there that stick out to me. So, I thought it would be fun (and helpful for me) to lay out some of the items we’ve gotten so far and some that we will be getting. I’m a visual person and happen to love mood boards in general.

People keep asking what the nursery theme is and honestly… I am not quite sure! I usually say it’s just a bright and airy space. Think wildflowers, fruits, pops of color, and animals of all kinds. I initially was thinking a jungle theme, but I love all animals and want to include any and all! As you can see – we got a sweet bunny, cat, AND white tiger above. I’m serious when I say any and all animals. Love.

So really, it is just going to be an eclectic/bohemian/natural type style. As long as it is bright, sunny, and colorful, I am happy.

So here is a look at what we’ve got going on so far.

The very first thing I bought for baby girl was this print by Katie Daisy. I’m a huge fan of her work and this quote is from Alice in Wonderland – gotta have that subtle Disney touch. The colors are also exactly what I was looking to make the star of the nursery – lush green, pale yellows, and pops of pink. It really embodied everything I wanted her space to hold.

The second thing I bought was the swaddle/blanket set from Little Unicorn. It’s no surprise because I am a fruit lover first and foremost. So beautiful.

For furniture, we are going with the Babyletto crib (white and washed natural) because I love the modern/sleek look. I also love that it had the colors from the dresser/changing station we decided on and the poang rocker from Ikea we grabbed. Brings everything together and it has that natural vibe I love. I am using two of the wicker footstools from Ikea for the rocker, too. Pretty baskets to match (I found ones similar at HomeGoods!)

The rug is from Rugs USA (my very favorite place to buy rugs) – so inexpensive and GREAT quality. All of the rugs in our home come from there! I loved this because it is neutral with an aztec/boho vibe.

Are you surprised to see a himalayan salt nightlight? A warm glow and air purifier. I can’t have enough in our home.

Aside from the Katie Daisy wall print, I also grabbed a couple prints from the Animal Print Shop – including this white tiger. So gorgeous! I also grabbed a few others that I hope to sprinkle in somehow.

I have a lot of toys on my list to grab, but I really love the rainbow blocks. I think it’ll add the perfect pop of color to the shelves. I already kinda talked about the stuffed animals, but the bunny and kitten by Jellycat are so sweet and soft. Lots and lots of animals – I also have a pig on my list, too. We don’t discriminate here – ALL ANIMALS WELCOME!

So that is our start to the nursery. I can’t wait to see it all come together – I am so antsy. Trying to wait until after the shower is rough, but planning it out in my head and collecting things has made it easier.

Anyways, so happy I can share this excitement with you all. It’s getting very real – cannot wait!! xx bianca

  1. Check out the Ostheimer wooden toys – they have so many animals that would go nicely with the rainbow blocks. The Waldorf school in Richmond sells them too.
