Calcium-Packed Pregnancy Smoothie [Vegan]

Vegan Calcium-Packed Pregnancy Smoothie

Hi friends! I hope you all had a beautiful Father’s Day. :)

About a month or so ago I shared one of my favorite calcium-packed pregnancy smoothies. I discussed how I am not always great about tracking calcium, but it is obviously a really important piece of the puzzle when it comes to growing a strong and healthy babe. Hey, it’s important no matter what, right?

I’ve been playing around with combinations for these types of smoothies and really wanted to share this one in particular because it is super decadent and flavorful. AND and it has even more calcium than the last, coming in at a whopping 745mg (72% of your daily calcium requirement during pregnancy).

I make so many smoothies all the times and often wonder if I should even share because they are so easy, but when I post photos on my Instagram, a lot of people seem interested in knowing exactly what it is. So if you are a smoothie person like me and often wonder what I am sipping on… it’s probably this as of lately!

As always, please note that I am not a nutritionist nor a medical professional, but this is based on reading labels. Always talk to a professional if you are concerned about your calcium intake.

Recipe

You will need:

  • 1 large banana 6mg (or 0%)
  • 1/2 cup SoDelicious vanilla coconut yogurt 200mg (or 20%)
  • 1 cup almond milk – 450mg (or 45%)
  • 1 tbs almond butter – 56 mg (or 5%)
  • 1 tbs cocoa powder – 7mg (or 0%)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon – 26mg (or 2%)
  • Ice

Calcium total: 745mg (or 72%)

To make:

  • Add all ingredients to blender and run until smooth. Enjoy 72% of your calcium intake in one glass and sitting. ;)

Aside from the obvious benefits of this smoothie, it also tastes like dessert. So… there’s that. I’ve found that this is a great way to start the morning for sure. The good thing is that you can modify as you see fit. Even if you don’t have coconut yogurt around, you are still getting 50% of your intake with every other ingredient – a huge dent and feat.

Also – did you know that 2 tbs of blackstrap molasses has 400gm of calcium? I had no idea. I don’t keep it on hand at home, but if you do… this would be a great addition or sub in this smoothie.

I hope that you’ll give this smoothie a try – pregnant or not. Calcium is important for all of us, and this smoothie may be the boost you need every once in a while. Enjoy, friends! xx bianca
