The 3.0 update in Animal Crossing did NOT disappoint when it comes to new items! As a lover of all things natural, cozy, and cottagecore when it comes to island decorating, so many items stood out and enhanced my builds – interiors and exteriors. Now that the excitement has settled a bit and I have finished all my hotel rooms and unlocking items, let’s go back and rework our spaces inside and out using these new items.
So today, I wanted to share my favorites with you so that you can easily see which would work best for these themes. AKA the cat plushie, right? ;)

The Artful Series
I know these give zen / minimalist vibes right off the bat, but I think depending on the colorway you choose, these can feel very cozy and cottagecore! The natural wood feels so fresh and simple, while the white gives a really nice soft cottagelike-feel. The above are some of the ones that stick out for me.
Tall Plants / Grass
The Bird-of-Paradise and Pampas Grass are so unbelievably perfect. I couldn’t love these additions and colorways more.
The Cat Plushie
The cat plushie is so iconic, cozy, and cottagecore that I had to dedicate an entire post to them and make mood boards for all the colorways. When I tell you there is a cat in every room and corner, I mean it. Every cottagecore and cozy island build needs cats galore.
Flower Planter
These deserve their own headline as well because I can’t stop placing them on everyone’s doorstep. I think they are such a great floral addition. I have pots on my own deck that look exactly like this and it makes me so happy. Great colorways, too.
Kitchen Items
There is nothing more warm and comforting than a cozy kitchen build on our cottagecore islands, right? Luckily, there are some really nice new additions! These are my favorites.
glass pitcher – love the iced tea, green tea, milk, and water variations
cutlery – the natural wood (or white) variation is so pretty for indoors or outside picnic builds
hotel mug – looks a bit kitschy but I mugs from travels can be sentimental
mug shelves – zero notes on this item! 10/10 for cottagecore!
Misc
circle cushion – we can’t ever have enough cushion/pillow options in this game.
wall-mounted bookshelf – an obvious choice because books forever! love the natural and white colorways.
colorful lantern arch – the natural colorway with the green especially feels so cottagelike – perfect to decorate outdoor picnic and/or patio spaces with. cozy mood lighting forever!
tubular magazine rack – this series may not scream cozy, but I think the magazine rack can feel a bit vintage/thrifted treasure. plus, reading material! I like the gold or copper colorway.
fairy bottle – this just seems like a really fun trinket with cozy lighting.
marble vanity – this series can feel a little cold but the plant and amber bottle on the vanity won me over.
kiddie house – this colorway is especially cozy for a playground build
hotel bandana – for those days tending to the garden!
