Hi friends! I posted a pic of this creation on my IG and asked who wanted the recipe… it definitely got a lot of interest, so ask and you shall receive. I am so excited to share it with you, because this is… wow. A really rich and indulgent breakfast (or dessert or snack) that is completely processed sugar-free. It gets its sweetness from fruit and dates. Yes, even the chocolate sauce.
I couldn’t even finish the smoothie because it was so filling and rich. If I am craving ice cream or something sweet, this will be my new go-to. It is so satisfying. AND healthy for something like this! So let’s get into it.
Recipe
For smoothie, you will need:
- 2 frozen bananas
- 2 dates
- 1 tbs cocoa powder
- 1 tbs almond butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1/2 cup almond milk
For chocolate sauce, you will need:
- 1 tbs cocoa powder
- 1 tbs date syrup (or pure maple syrup if you can’t make it)
- Hot water as necessary to thin out to your desired consistency
To make:
- For smoothie, blend all ingredients on high until smooth. Set aside.
- Make syrup by stirring date syrup with cocoa powder. Add hot water as necessary to thin out.
- Drizzle half of the syrup on the insides of your glass with a spoon and then pour in smoothie. Top with remaining syrup.
I hope you’ll give this is a try. If you do, let me know. Tag me in your photos on IG – I love seeing your creations! You can tag me at @thefriendlyfig and #thefriendlyfig. Have a beautiful day! xx bianca
