I know I mentioned it on here before, but the concept of hygge has been playing a big part in how I am making it through winter in New England. It isn’t my favorite season, but I am striving to embrace this season of life – especially as a postpartum mama. One of the big pieces of hygge is hot beverages to comfort the soul.
My go-to has been this mocha latte for a long while now and I finally wanted to share it here. I have definitely been waking up and looking forward to this more often than not. Plus, I could always use the extra bit of caffeine first thing in the morning.
For this recipe, I have a handheld frother that I am crazy obsessed with. It’s easy to use and gives you just enough foam. It isn’t necessary, but without it, you won’t have that beautiful, frothy pile on top. If you’re interested, you can find one on Amazon, here (affiliate link).
Recipe
You will need:
- 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- Splash of maple syrup (or sweetener of your choice)
- Plant-based milk (I like cashew or soy), heated
- 1/4 cup coffee, espresso shot, or cold brew concentrate
To make:
- In your favorite mug, add cocoa powder, maple syrup, and heated milk. Stir until the powder completely dissolves.
- Add your choice of coffee (I prefer cold brew concentrate that my husband makes, but coffee or espresso also work fine). Stir well.
- Create some foam using your handheld frother (if you have one!)
- Sip and enjoy.
Short and sweet recipe, but I think it’s just what everyone needs this season. It’s surely been getting me through it. Just remember to slow down and savor it. xx bianca
