Kids Spring/Summer Bookshelf

Kids Spring/Summer Bookshelf

Books, books, and more books! Money well spent, always. We read a lot in this house. Since our collection is always growing, I rotate which books I have out on these shelves usually by season. There are other bins and spots around the house with books, too. But this is our designated “seasonal” shelf.

I thought it would be fun to share what we have going on every once in a while. I may do this at the start of every season, if it is something you guys are interested in. Let me know.

I want to note that I grab the majority of our books thrifted or from Book Outlet. If I can’t find something on our list thrifted after trying a few times, I will turn to Book Outlet. I can’t express how much I love it. All books are discounted (nearly 50% off Amazon prices) and are in great condition. I highly recommend checking them out here if you haven’t already. But I will also include Amazon links below in case you want to add to your wish list or purchase directly from there (since Book Outlet does not always have what you may want in stock – patience required!)

So! Here’s what we have on our shelf this season.

Our Spring/Summer Bookshelf

We Are the Gardeners

Follow a family’s adventure on starting a garden and watching it grow into something big and grand throughout the years. Gorgeous illustrations and story.

A Small Blue Whale

A sweet story of a whale who yearns for friendship and he finds it in an unexpected way. Whales are my favorite, so there are a lot of whale-focused stories for this summer.

The Very Quiet Cricket

This was one of my favorites as a kid and I am so happy my kids love it. The story of a cricket who is trying to find his voice. A sweet chirping surprise at the end, too.

Little Golden Book: Finding Nemo

We collect the Disney Little Golden Books and Finding Nemo is our choice this month.

I Am a Warrior Goddess

Beautiful book for little girls to feel empowered. Lovely affirmations.

Many: The Diversity of Life on Earth

I love this book because of its beautiful illustrations but also its gentle and easy-to-read introduction to wildlife for little ones. Great messaging to protect it, too.

Plants Feed Me

Since we are gardening and growing our own food this season, this book has been a great addition to our library. It got my oldest daughter excited to plant as well as to try new foods that grow from the earth.

Mrs. Peanuckle’s Tree Alphabet

We collect all the Mrs. Peanuckle books (and there are three alone on this list) but this is our newest addition. A great children’s guide to the world of trees!

Mrs. Peanuckle’s Flower Alphabet

Same as above but for flowers. I love the illustrations so much. And my daughter is already interested in identifying flowers outside because of this book! Sometimes we take it with us to see what we can find.

The Very Busy Spider

We love Eric Carle books in this house and with the emergence of spiders this season (and a toddler who is already a bit scared of them), I thought this could help her to see the beauty of them. (But if not, that’s okay, because I am scared, too. LOL!)

The Rainbow Fish

A beautiful story that promotes sharing – a moral that we are working on in this house!

The Honeybee

I couldn’t love this book more. It’s a little dive into what bees do, how they make honey, why, etc. Not only is is beautifully illustrated but there are fun words/sounds on nearly every page. Really cute!

Baby Beluga

A favorite that never gets old. This was the very first song I sang to both girls when they were born. It’s my absolute favorite.

Little Blue Truck’s Springtime

Big fan of the Little Blue Truck books and this one is no exception. Fun rhyming, sounds, and flaps to uncover baby animals.

Mrs. Peanuckle’s Vegetable Alphabet

And another Mrs. Peanuckle book, but I love this one because it is another great “gardening” companion read for my daughter.

The Snail and the Whale

An unlikely and amazing duo. Two friends set out to see the world and find some trouble along the way. But no matter how small, you can help! It’s a really great story!!
