What I’m Loving Lately (vol 12)

loving lately

Hi friends! I can’t believe how quickly October slipped away. I am always sad to see it go, though I love the remainder of the months and look forward to the magic of the season. Halloween is tomorrow and that is craaaazy to me! Do you dress up? I haven’t much in recent years but the girls were begging me to partcipate this year so I grabbed a blue wig and thrifted a yellow oversized coat to be Coraline. It’s one of my favorite childhood books and I also love the movie, so Coraline it is! Let me know if you like to dress up and what you’ll be!

But for today, I wanted to pop in to share what I have been enjoying lately – for myself and also with my family. Big and little joys, they are all important to me. So grab a hot cup of whatever you love and join me.

~ I’ve been wholly enjoying maple lattes this season from our local coffee shop. So sweet and comforting on cold windy/rainy days.

~ I am halfway through season 2 of Nobody Wants This and it is not disappointing! I have cackled my way through most episodes and can’t get enough of this cast. The brother and his wife… *chef’s kiss.*

~ On the reading front, I have had a great streak lately!! A few books that I enjoyed so much: Mate by Ali Hazelwood (for werewolf romance lovers), Heart the Lover by Lily King (she is my favorite literary author), Falling Like Leaves by Misty Wilson, The Gingerbread Bakery by Laurie Gilmore (this whole series is soooo fun and brings so much joy), and my very very favorite of the autumn season… If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia which takes place in the 90s and feels like the best fall romcom. I cannot recommend it enough!

~ Another book note, I reread Quicksilver to prepare for the November release of Brimstone and I am so glad I did because I forgot how much I loved this romantasy and how great the cast of characters are. If you haven’t read this one yet, it is up there with Fourth Wing!!

~ The girls and I have been coloring together at night in our COZY coloring books with our upgraded marker set. I can’t tell you how much joy and connection this is bringing. I look forward to this every day. Our new routine is they come home from school and have their snack while I prep dinner and while dinner is in the oven, we set the table up with candles and fairy lights and color until dinner. It’s so darn sweet.

~ Speaking of cozy hobbies, I recently shared this post on 20+ hobbies to enjoy for the cold months ahead. Take a look if you need something to keep you busy this winter.

~ Here’s a random one but I have been in the hunt for years for the best kids waterbottle and I think I finally grabbed this one. I always put them off because of the price but they were recently marked down to $15 so I nabbed them and yes, they are superior. I can fully stand behind them!

~I recently saw and LOVED this post on IG: How to Prepare for a Nostalgic and Whimsical Holiday Season. It captured everything I want the holidays to be so beautifully.

~ You guys know I love a good ambiance room on YouTube and this one with cozy oldies playing has been such a comfort while I am working and getting things done around the house.

~ I’ve been slowly collecting ideas and things for our Advent calendar this year. My kids are (3 days shy of) 6 and 8 and I am so happy they still love this tradition. If you are interested in seeing what I have planned for this year, let me know over on Instagram and I can post it.

~ I have been making vegan chik’n cacciatore in my slow cooker and my family loves this meal so much. I started using Daring chik’n in this recipe and it comes out fantastic. I let everything else simmer on low for 4ish hours and add the chik’n the last hour and turn up to high.

~ It’s pumpkin pie season and I’ve made this recipe twice because it is the very best one I’ve had yet.

~ A new update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons was announced today and I am absolutely estatic!! If you play, you can watch the update here.

~ If you love audiobooks, Audible is currently running a holiday promotion come November: $0.99/month for 3 months. I’m considering this deal for myself, as I have loved having Audible in the past!!
