Hello AC friends! You’re in good company here. I obsess over which villagers to add to my themed islands, which led me to creating all the villager lists. So if you’ve landed here, you may be yearning for the early early days of Animal Crossing. Think nostalgic normcore with villagers only from the original Animal Crossing game and only villagers that have normal coloring (though it does feel like a sin not having Bob and Rosie on a nostalgia list – maybe that’s a future post). They are classic cuties and they work perfectly if you are wishing for the old times. Here are some of the best villagers to consider!

#1: Apollo

Bones is a baby and old soul all wrapped up in one and he is absolutely a classic for a reason. A few fun facts: he has a lazy personality, his favorite colors are brown and beige, his catchphrase is “yip yip,” and he has the play hobby.

He’s just a cute green frog that feels very normal and nostalgic. A few fun facts: he has a jock personality, his favorite colors are yellow and colorful, his catchphrase is “sluuuurp,” and he has the play hobby.

Chevre is very special to me because we go back 20+ years in my OG Animal Crossing town. I think she is so precious (just look at her eyes) and and I love her catchphrase. Sweetest Ellie! Look at her. LOOK. Her coloring, her rosy cheeks, her dipped ears, her adorable bangs… she makes me so happy. My personal favorite natural elephant in the game. #8: Chief

#9: Gonzo

#10: Goldie

#11: Punchy
If we can’t have Bob on here because of his unnatural purple color, Punchy is the next best dude. There’s a lot to love here, from his hooded eyes to the whiskers. ICON. #12: Patty

#13: Kiki
Classic black cat energy always. Her design is flawless and she has the education hobby (which I am partial to). #14: Teddy

#15: Maple

Olive is often overshadowed by Maple, but she is just as cute IMO. Great coloring! I picture her being an introverted homebody and love that for her. #17: Twiggy

#18: Lily
