Is there such thing as a rare villager? If so, who are the rarest and why?
I think technically, no villager is exactly “rare” because villagers are necessarily offered less when you villager hunt, but depending on the species and how many villagers there are of that species, your chances are a little more slim.
The game will first roll a species and then will role the villager within that species. If you are looking for an octopus villager, there are only 4 villagers that can spawn. So yes, you are more likely to get the octopus that you want as opposed to a cat villager, where there are 26 cats. Once you role the cat species, you now have a 1 in 26 chance of getting the cat villager you want. That vs a 1 in 4 chance does make a big difference!
That’s just a quick explanation why we often speak of rare villagers. Of course, if you are like me, you love a good amiibo card to just get the villagers that you want in without the hassle. However, if you villager hunting, it is helpful to know how this works to adjust your expectations.
Today, let’s look at 30 villagers that are often sought after but may be considered “rare” and harder to come by. Not impossible, just maybe a little more effort. Unless you get REALLY lucky and find them right away and in that case, we all scream for joy!!!

Lolly

Raymond
People went nuts when Raymond was released. He was a hot commodity for a long while, which has since died down, but he remains a favorite. He is the only smug cat villager which is surprising to me because cats are he definition of smug. Kiki
