Roadtrip with a 10-Month Old: What I'm Packing for Willow

Hi friends!

I’m sorry I haven’t shared many life updates on here. I think I am more open on Instagram these days… it’s just easier sometimes. I am so excited to share that we’ll be taking a mini roadtrip to Maine. Willow’s first family vacation! She won’t remember it, but we always will. It’s just a quick getaway… beach days, hotel living… I am so excited. I feel like we definitely need something like this after the last few months. Life has been crazy (in a good way) and we need to recharge a bit.

I feel pretty confident in the 3-hour drive with Willow. We are going to time it out so she will go down for her nap when we leave (she loves napping in the car) and if we are lucky, we’ll get at least 90 minutes of her zonked out. If she can do 2 hours, that would be even better. But if she is up for 1/2 of the ride, then I have some entertainment for her. Honestly… 3 hours is not long. I have a good feeling and am not too worried about it.

I wanted to share what I will be packing for the car ride and trip in general. We may not use it all, but I am an overpacker. I feel like that is okay when you have a 10-month old in tow.

TO GET THROUGH THE DRIVE:

  • WubbanubTHIS is the holy grail. Her comfort. We can’t go anywhere without at least two.
  • Toys – her favorite Minnie Mouse, musical toy, security blanket, and rings.
  • Teethers – she’s in the heat of teething, so I’ll definitely have a few of these on hand.
  • Touch and feel book – she has been so into books these days, and this one will occupy her a bit.
  • Diapers – self-explanatory necessity.
  • Wipes – again, just a necessity.
  • Sun hat – just in case she gets restless and we pull off somewhere to relax in the sun a bit. Grabbed an i play hat at Target.
  • Extra onesie – A blowout on the road would be a nightmare. Fortunately, blowouts these days are soooo rare, but you know… just in case.
  • Lightweight swaddle blanket – love muslin swaddles so much. She loves to cuddle with it when napping in the car.
  • Snack cup + puffs – these are a saving grace whenever we are in public and she starts to fuss a bit. Let’s hope they will have the same effect in car. We use these cups and these puffs.
  • Mum Mums – she loves these teething biscuits.
  • Banana – easy snack.
  • Sippy cup – we take this cup with us everywhere.
  • Bottle – extra bottle for feeding.
  • Soy formula – I’ll be bringing a whole tin for the 3 days.
  • Waterbottles – for us and for her sippy cup/bottle.
  • Burp cloths (2) – just in case things get messy (or you know, when they get messy).
  • Hand sanitizer – I always have it.
  • iPad – we are downloading a few of her favorite Disney movies/shows for entertainment if necessary!
  • Spotify – not exactly “packing” this, but worth mentioning that we will be depending on this for the Disney Junior and Disney sing-a-long playlist I’ve created for her. She loves music!

PACKING IN GENERAL:

In addition to the above, we’ll be packing the following for her:

  • Stroller – we love this one because it is so lightweight.
  • Swimgear – I grabbed a swimming diaper and long-sleeve rash guard for her at Target.
  • Sunscreen – can’t have enough of this. Love the Babyganics brand.
  • Bug spray – another Babyganics buy. Not sure if we will need it, but, maybe!
  • Sunglasses – I doubt she will wear them, but bringing anyways.
  • Swim shoesthese are so cute, right? She lives in them lately.
  • Clothes/Sleepers – lots of extra clothes and onesies.
  • Socks – just a couple pairs.
  • Extra blanket – another muslin blanket in case the other one gets messy.
  • Pack ‘n Play crib sheet – the hotel is providing us with a pack ‘n play, but I am not sure if we will use it. We have a King bed, so she may end up in there with us. But packing the sheet in case.
  • Goodnight Moon – we read this to her every. single. night. Can’t forget it.
  • Baby Tylenol – just in case.
  • Baby Benadryl – just in case.
  • Extra bottles – she takes 4 bottles a day now.
  • Bottle brush – to clean the bottles in the hotel sink.
  • Dish soap – again, to clean bottles.
  • Bibs – both cloth and silicone.
  • Extra burp cloths – for messes.
  • Beach towels – I bought her own beach towel at HomeGoods. It has watermelons on it!
  • Beach tent – we grabbed this one on Amazon and it’s perfect for beach day coverage.
  • Silicone food matthis whale one for her meals.
  • Disposable food mats – I’ve never used these, but will try and see how they work out.
  • Frozen pancakes – I make these blueberry oat pancakes for her and she LOVES them. I’ll pack a few in the cooler for her breakfasts.
  • 1 avocado – Just to have for her meals.
  • Food container – I love this travel food storage container. I’m going to chop from strawberries for one, pasta with marinara and nooch in one, and then cooked sweet potato. We’ll keep it in our cooler until we get to the hotel to transfer to our mini fridge. All for Willow’s breakfast/lunch/dinners!
  • Extra water – again, in the cooler for the whole trip.
  • 1 smoothie pouch – I probably won’t need this, but just in case. There is a vegan juice and smoothie bar I want to visit, so I’ll use this for her if we do find ourselves there.

I think that is about it! I can’t wait to get there… we’re just going to take it easy, let Willow lead, and find some good vegan food. Keep an eye out on Instagram – I’ll try to share pics and stories as we go. I’ll definitely be unplugging a bit, but I will try to update!

Have a wonderful day. xx bianca
