Hi friends and happy August :)
Can you believe it? I honestly can’t believe it… and if you’ve been here a while, you know that right around this time I am itching for autumn. I very much still feel that way (I am who I am) but I do feel like time is slipping too quickly and am trying my best to slow down and savor the very last bits of summer. That doesn’t look like anything crazy, but just a few simple things that can help elevate the month before it’s back to school and all things pumpkin (!!)
There’s also a few things on here that may help you start to gently transition in the next season, too. Whatever you take from this, I hope it brings joy into your life this month.
☀️Simple Ways to Enjoy Late Summer
- Let the kids stay up past their bedtime and have that s’mores night you’ve been putting off
- Get in a few more beach days (or nights)
- Watch the sunset at a local park. August sunsets are something special
- Let the kids run through the sprinkler until the sun sets – provide popsicles
- Host a grill and chill night with family or friends
- Eat all the watermelon and stone fruit that your heart desires before they’re gone
- Stargaze in your backyard
- Go on one last ice cream run to your favorite spot
- Eat dinner outside – as many more nights as you can!
🌻Cozy August Ideas at Home
- Grab a bouquet of sunflowers for the table. We have a cut-your-own place here which is so much fun!
- Enjoy your morning beverage outside, sans phone, to just soak in the warmth of these mornings
- Sit outside while you browse recipes and jot down meal ideas for the season ahead. I love doing this with a beverage and some relaxing lofi music.
- Make a blueberry crumble or pie – it’ll make your home smell lovely, too.
💛Seasonal Living Ideas for August
- Harvest your vegetables and make a delicious dinner with your bounty at the star. We love to grill up our zucchini and peppers, make large batches of pesto to freeze with our basil, and enjoy tomato sandwiches.
- Cut and dry out any herbs you’ve grown.
- Visit your local farmer’s market and watch how the produce offered begins to shift. Appreciate the shift and find new recipes to try out.
🍂Slowly Sink into Fall
- Make your autumn TBR book list for something to look forward to. Or squeeze in those last few summer romances you’ve had on your backlist.
- Plan out or purchase your bulbs for the fall season. I am planning on daffodils and hyacinths in the spring.
- Put out a pot of mums by the front door to welcome the next season and your guests
- Refresh craft supplies by taking advantage of back-to-school sales this month. I’ll be stocking up on crayons, markets, pencils, and glue.
