Hi friends!
Just another children’s book round-up for all the books lovers out there. These are my favorite kind of posts to pull together because they make me really happy. I hope that some of you are into it as much as I am.
I love to change out the books on my girls’ shelf along with the season to keep things interesting and fresh. Feel free to check out past shelves for holiday, fall, and spring/summer, too. But today, we are focusing on winter books.
As always, I’ll share Amazon links below but my favorite website for books is Book Outlet (you know that if you know me!) Discounted books for the win. You can often get them at least 50% off the usual price. I highly recommend!! The only downside is that they don’t always have everything you want but you can add to your wish list and be notified (if you want).
Anyways, we are still adding to our collection but here’s what we have going on this season.
NOTE: This post contains affiliate links, which means that I’ll receive a commission if you purchase from this link. This will not change or increase the cost of your purchase. This extra income provides for my family and keeps The Friendly Fig running strong.
#1: Mice Skating
This is a new one we added this year and we love it! Aside from beautiful illustrations, it is about a mouse who refuses to stay indoors for the winter… she just wants to skate and show it off! It’s really charming.
#2: The Snowy Day
This is our favorite, hands down. It is a winner of awards and a classic for a reason… it simply nails everything about the perfect snow day for children. We read this nearly every day!
#3: The Mitten
A little boy drops his mitten while playing in the snow. How many animals do you think can squeeze into it? Find out. ;)
#4. All You Need For A Snowman
Capturing the essence of building a snowman, this is a sweet story that excites my girls to get outside and build.
#5: Over and Under the Snow
Which animals live under the ground and snow? Find out in this charming read. Love this one!
#6: Snowflake’s Fall
This is such a gorgeous book about snowflakes and the cycle from snowflake to water and the promise of renewal.
#7: Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter
We have all of these seasonal books that capture the transitions from season to season. They are just beautifully written and illustrated. A must-have for shelves.
#8: The Snowman
The silent but enchanting story of a boy who’s snowman comes to life… this is a classic that brings all the nostalgia. Just stunning.
#9: Snowman Magic
Another enchanting story of a snowman come to life.
#10: Mama, Do You Love Me?
This is one of my favorites as a kid and one of the first books I bought for my girls. While it isn’t about winter entirely, it has the Alaskan vibe going and I am here for it.
#11: Frog and Toad All Year
We love Frog and Toad in this house and this one in particular has a couple great winter-themed stories.
#12: The Red Mittens
This story is probably best for preschoolers or beyond because it is a whole lot of words but this is a great story of kindness, love, and generosity.
#13: The Missing Mitten Mystery
More mittens! A sweet mystery for little readers.
#14: Baby Beluga
Another one of my favorites that I bought as soon as I found out I was pregnant. Baby Beluga isn’t winter-themed but our arctic friends fit right in with the season.
#15: Just So Willow
Willow the polar bear is a bit of a perfectionist and does not want to ruin the snow… or watch anyone else ruin it. This is a fun one for kiddos. (And yes, I bought it based entirely on the title.)
