#1: Winnie the Pooh

Let’s start with the utterly charming and most popular classic, Winnie the Pooh! An island based on the Hundred Acre Wood is bound to be stunning. Think natural landscapes and items, mush items, and lots of honey pots. And plenty of picnic and celebration spots in the woods! Oh, and a red balloon! Here are your villagers to consider…

Winnie the Pooh Animal Crossing Villagers

Marty (Sanrio amiibo) – the sweetest little Pooh! Maple – another option for Pooh because her catchphrase is “honey!” Gala – love the idea of her as piglet Pippy – I went back and forth with Pippy and Gaston as Rabbit but she won out… an underrated gem. Carrie – she is perfect for Kanga and Roo. Paolo – he’s a heffalump if I’ve ever seen one. Graham – he’s giving gopher vibes. Stitches – he has a cute stuffed teddy storybook vibe going but also perhaps a Woozle. Tia – a heffalump but make it cute with a spot of tea.

#2: Frog and Toad

My personal favorite of all time is Frog and Toad. These stories have been so dear to my heart for over 30 years. A Frog and Toad island would be perfect with lots of mushroom items, snail models, flowers, gardens, and plenty of cookie jars (high up on a shelf, of course).

Frog and Toad Animal Crossing Villagers

Wart Jr. – the perfect toad of all time. Tad – and the perfect frog! Cally – she is a great storybook squirrel. Robin – she must love cookies. Lily – another sweet frog to live on the pond. Molly – she feels like the perfect neighbor to these villagers in this story. Anicotti – a sweet peppy mouse! Gabi – this island theme needs a rabbit and her freckles are so sweet. Blaire – she feels like a badger or skunk and fits perfectly. Henry – because you can’t have too many frogs here.

#3: Charlotte’s Web

With so many farmcore items and ideas floating around, it would be really easy to create the world of E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web. While there is no spider villager, be sure to get models made with Flick and use some of his Bug Off prizes (like the web!)

Gala – Wilbur is a boy, sure, but Gala is too cute to pass up. Eunice – she is the sweetest sheep for the barnyard crew. Norma – another supporting role by a cutie. Goose – he works really well here. Ava – such a mother hen. Winnie – love her coloring for this theme. Samson – here’s your Templeton! Tipper – classic cow is a must. Elmer – because he is too cute with his natural coat. Stella – another darling sheep!

#4: Little Bear

Maurice Sendak’s Little Bear is a charming sets of storybooks, and for me as a child, one of my favorite TV series of all time. It is a gentle, whimsical, and natural world that brings so much comfort and warmth. The cast of characters are charming and feel like your friends.

Little Bear Animal Crossing Villagers

Maple – I think she gives the best Little Bear vibes ever! Kiki – oh, she is soooo Cat. I love this for her. Molly – I was torn between her and Joey for Duck, but Molly is always going to win. Ava – she is the picture perfect Hen! Olive – she feels very motherly, like Mother Bear. Grizzly – he is giving major Father Bear vibes. Erik – always loved an episode with Moose. Anchovy – he can pass as Owl, right? Henry – remember the wise old Frog? Henry is perfect. Lucy – she is literally Lucy, Emily’s porcelain doll.

#5: Beatrix Potter

Peter Rabbit, Miss Moppet, Tom Kitten… nearly the whole crew is here. The whimsical and gentle world of Beatrix Potter is a childhood favorite for so many of us. These villagers felt so perfect for the vibe. If you are creating a Beatrix Potter island, make sure there are carrot gardens abound!

Claude – Peter Rabbit himself. He looks mischievous enough. Pompom – we’re just gonna call her Jemima Puddle-duck. Cally – she feels very whimsical storybook for this world. Perhaps Squirrel Nutkin? Gala – she fits the piggy stories nicely. Merry – love her as Miss Moppet. Lolly – she is giving Tom Kitten vibes with the blue coloring. Wart Jr. – he is giving Mr. Jeremy Fisher. Samson – the little mouse from Miss Moppet, perhaps? Bunnie – I feel like her design fits this theme so well. Curly – another piggy!

#6: Goodnight Moon

This was a really fun one to make because though it is a minimalist bedtime story, it is filled with cuties. Goodnight Moon will always be a classic. While it may be hard to make an entire island in this theme, I think it would be fun to try making an interior like the one in the story!

Goodnight Moon Animal Crossing Villagers

Gabi – one of the two rabbits in the story. She gives childish vibes with her sweet freckles and wide eyes. Ruby – Mama rabbit, maybe? Moon rabbit, for sure!! Tipper – the cow jumping over the moon! Maple, Olive, and Teddy – and there were three little bears, sitting on chairs. Lolly and Mitzi – and two little kittens and a pair of mittens. Ellie – have you ever noticed the stuffed elephant on the shelf? Samson – and a little young mouse!

#7: Brambly Hedge

The world of Brambly Hedge is ornate, intricate, and truly one of the coziest of all time. All the little rooms and pantries inside the trees and under mushroom caps… it is completely and utterly charming. And yes, the entire character list is mostly mice, but we are adding a few others in for variety. This would be an amazing island theme!! You’ll want cottagecore inspiration, too.

Broccolo – the happiest and sweetest little mouse! Poppy – she is exactly the vibe of this world and fits in so nicely. Cally – like Poppy, she also fits perfectly here! Bettina – she seems like such a warm mouse. Penelope – cute as a button! Definitely feeling like one of Poppy’s babies. Hamlet – a hamster is a nice addition and Hamlet has nice coloring. Carmen – her style and vibe feels like it fits here. Samson – And another perfect mouse! Candy – she is very adorable! Sylvana – love her earthy colors for this palette.

#8: Alice in Wonderland

The world of Wonderland is a popular theme and for good reason… there are endless opportunities from the Queen of Hearts’ rose gardens to the infamous tea party with the Mad Hatter and Hare. And of course, what a cast of characters.

Alice in Wonderland Animal Crossing Villagers

Bob – this is our Cheshire Cat and he is perfect. Ruby – she is a perfect White Rabbit! O’Hare – he has the hat for the Mad Hatter. Dora – I think she makes a really sweet dormouse. Tia and Chai – of course! The teapots! They are so whimsical and fun for this theme! Chrissy and Francine – Tweedledee and Tweedledum perhaps, but they also fit the whimsical vibe as themselves. Flora – croquet, anyone? Poppy – I love her color and storybook vibe for this one. She could be sweet Alice, honestly.

#9: Bambi

Bambi is one of the greatest classic Disney films of all time and I knew I had to make a villager list for it. The movie score alone is ✨chef’s kiss.✨ But an island based on Bambi would be so lovely – forestcore builds with a huge flower field for Flower.

Bambi Animal Crossing Villagers

Fauna – she is the perfect Bambi. No notes. Blaire – Flower is the best and Blaire is perfect!! Dotty – Dotty is so peppy and would make a great Thumper. Deirdre – a fellow deer who fits wonderfully. Beau – and again, we can’t have too many deer villagers here. Anchovy – he is our designated Owl for all of these themes, honestly. Dora – sweet fieldmouse vibes. Erik – love his antlers for this. Robin – she felt like a good choice for the singing birds. Gabi – another bunny who is cute as a button!

#10: Jan Brett

A Jan Brett story is a book that keeps on giving with its intricate details… the foreshadowing, the whimsical illustrations, the large cast of critters in each story. They really are a work of art. If you are a lover of Jan Brett, maybe you’ll appreciate an island that felt just as cozy, vintage, and Scandinavian.

Jan Brett Animal Crossing Villagers

Grizzly – I am thinking of the Mitten and Grizzly is perfec. Chief – though he’s a wolf, he is giving fox and works great. Blaire – she feels very badger-like. Ava – a great farmyard addition to capture the vibes from The Hat. Bunnie – her style and vibe feels like a Jan Brett illustration. Broccolo – gotta have our little mouse! Goose – because though a chicken, we are gonna pretend he is a goose. Olivia – her eyes and colors… just perfect for this theme. Erik – he is our Scandinavian reindeer! Gabi – her style also feels on par for Jan Brett. A snowy rabbit!
