Willow loves when we read to her. I pretty much made sure of this, haha! Since she was literally a month old, I’ve been reading to her throughout the day and always before bed. Our bedtime routine is literally my favorite thing in the world, especially when Joe and I read her 2-3 stories (always ending with Goodnight Moon). She turns the pages and follows along so sweetly. It hurts my heart.
She has so many books… the shelves and baskets are literally overflowing. For my baby shower, I asked everyone to replace a card with a book, so that kicked things off. And since then, we’re always adding to her collection.
If you are in the market for some good children’s books, maybe you’ll find some inspiration from our favorites list below. It’s hard to choose favorites when there are so many, but I have to say… these books are the ones she will pull off the shelf when I tell her to get a book for mama to read.

Books We Love
Goodnight Moon. This is definitely her favorite, and ours as well. We read this every single night – it is always the last one. We started this nightly tradition since she was 6 months old and she gets so excited over it. It is just a classic that you need to have in your library.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. This was one of my favorites as a kid, so I read it a bunch to Willow when she was younger. It just grew along with her, and she seems to get a kick out of it. I can recite it verbatim, naturally, so when she is sometimes having a meltdown, I start reciting it out loud. Her ears perk up so fast.
Baby Beluga. Mama’s other favorite (whales for life). But I have been singing this song to her as a lullaby since her first night home. I’m glad she enjoys the song and story. She grabs for it more often than not. PROUD.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Simple, educational, and beautifully illustrated. We tend to read this a lot during the day before winding down for a nap. She likes the “white dog” best.
First 100 Words. This is the king of all books for toddlers, I truly believe. It’s great for word/image recognition and she keeps VERY busy with this. We also have first 100 animals. She loves both of them… keeps her busy on car rides and while out to eat.
Lion King Little Golden Book. We are in the processing of collection the Disney Little Golden Books. We have sooo many, but this is her favorite by a long shot. She is obsessed with anything Lion King… so you can imagine how much she loves this.
Mrs. Peanuckle’s Fruit Alphabet. We both LOVE this book! The illustrations are gorgeous and it’s a fun way to get familiar with fruits. We also have the vegetable one, but she is more drawn to fruit so far. Same, girl.
Five Wiggly, Wriggly Caterpillars. Something about kids and caterpillars, man. It’s a short and sweet read with a “touch and feel” vibe for the raised caterpillars.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Speaking of caterpillars, this is a classic for everyone. It’s been a favorite for a while.
Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? Much like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, this one is beautifully illustrated but it had the added bonus of being interactive. On each page, she can swipe over to see what is behind each “door.” She has a lot of fun with this one.
Mama, Do You Love Me? I selfishly bought this one because I LOVED it as a child. I didn’t expect her to take to it as fast and she did… not sure why. But this is almost always the book she grabs off the shelf before bed. She runs over to sit on my lap with it. It melts my HEART. Plus… the story is just beautiful.
