Most people who know me know that I am a sucker for anything lavender. Lavender iced coffee, lattes, iced tea, muffins, scones… if it had lavender in the title, I’m going to want to try it. Since a lot of coffee shop and bakeries around here don’t usually carry lavender drinks and baked goods, I grabbed my own lavender buds and made this sweet syrup. It’s perfect for homemade iced coffee, lattes, or baking. Plus, it was really easy!
I use this pretty sparingly – only when I am really craving it. I mean, it is literally sugar syrup. But hey, we all deserve a little sweet in our lives.
Recipe
You will need:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup cane sugar
- 1 tbs lavender buds
To make:
- Simply combine water, sugar, and lavender buds in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally to make sure sugar dissolves. Once boiling, remove from heat, cover, and let sit for about an hour.
- Using a fine mesh strainer, pour liquid into a large bowl and strain away buds. Take syrup and jar up into a mason jar. Let cool before refrigerating.
Stir into your favorite coffee or tea for a pinch of sweet. Of course – if you want something quick… Monin lavender syrup works. Anyone else out there love lavender? I hope you all have a gorgeous day! xx bianca
