Hi friends :)
I have a short and sweet recipe for you today. This is my go-to iced beverage and afternoon pick-me-up in the summertime. You know those days that are dragging a bit and feel lazy and you are starting to lose steam but your kids have only just begun?
After quiet time and everyone is extra energetic again, I like to make myself one of these, get everyone dressed, and head outside. My kids are happy to run around and explore and play while I sit back in my Adirondack chair, put on a podcast, and sip my iced mocha. Sounds indulgent, right? Oh, it is. It is something I look forward to nearly everyday. It is a simple act of self care but it packs a big punch for me. Maybe you’ll agree.
Here’s the simple recipe. x
Recipe:
You will need:
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa or cacao powder
- Bit of hot water
- 1-2 tbsp sweetener of your choice (I like raw sugar or maple syrup – adjust to sweetness preference)
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup homemade coffee or cold brew
- 1/4 – 1/3 cup oat milk (depending on the ratio you like to coffee)
- Ice
To make:
- Add unsweetened cocoa powder and sweetener to your jar.
- If you are using raw sugar, I like to add a bit of hot water (just a drop) to help it dissolve before adding the cold coffee or milk. This also helps to dissolve the cocoa powder, too. Stir until smooth.
- Add the remaining ingredients and stir well.
- Add lots of ice and enjoy.
