Oatmeal isn’t just mama’s jam over here. Willow has a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast every morning. The beauty of this breakfast is not only the fact that it is full of iron and nutrients for her, but there are endless combos so it never gets too boring. I switch it up every day, and she definitely seems to appreciate that.
Every morning, we get the oatmeal going while she plays in her high chair. We love to listen to Disney sing-a-long songs during this time, too. I love breakfast with this kiddo.
So I figured I would share some of our favorite oatmeal combinations here. Maybe it will inspire you when it comes to feeding your little one. That is my hope, anyway!
For the below recipes, all I do is prepare oatmeal ahead of time and freeze it. I use Bob’s Red Mill rolled oats and just pulse a bit to break down into a finer oat. I will cook about 1 cup at a time with 2-3 cups of water and once done and cooled, will store in freezer trays. Once you have that, I will use either use pre-frozen baby purées that I’ve made or mash up fresh if I have it (like banana). Really fast and easy to do first thing in the morning when it is already frozen and prepared, and she very much looks forward to it.
