I love giving gifts. I know that everyone says that, but I reallyyyyyy really love it! I always tend to go overboard, because I can’t help myself. If I see something that someone will love, I have to grab it. Sometimes I will grab something months and months in advance and just hang onto it until a holiday or birthday.
I don’t have too many other vegans in my life (my mom!) but I think it’s fun to think about all the cool stocking stuffers that I’d appreciate as a vegan. A lot of people may not know where to begin when gift shopping for a vegan or vegetarian, so hey… here are some awesome ideas from on veg-head to another. Last minute shoppers, enjoy!
When I started eating vegan, no word of a lie, one of the first things I was sad to let go was Halloween candy. Hear me out – like… I know that if I had M&Ms and Twix now, I would be like… uhhh this is so fake! Nasty – too sugary. Bleh. BUT… if I am being 100% honest, I do miss the pigging out on Halloween candy all week long. It’s not even the actual candy really… it’s just, the art of living off of candy for a week. Does that make sense? Probably not at all, but it’s fine. It’s how I feel!
So one of the first things I wanted to do was figure out some vegan recipes for all my favorite Halloween treats. Sara actually shared homemade vegan peanut butter cups on here to replace Reeses (the only one that really matters, right?) and this recipe is a go-to for me. I can’t even tell you how often I’ve made these since she posted the recipe. I’m also a huge caramel fan, so that is where these bad boys come into play. Dates are literally caramel – bonus that they are a natural sugar option!
Valentine’s Day is coming quick – have you gotten your special someone a little something? Candy may be cliché, but come on… everyone loves candy. Add a homemade card, and you have yourself a wonderful, inexpensive, and thoughtful gift! If your celebrating a vegan Valentine’s Day, don’t think that all hope is lost. There are plenty of vegan candy options, and we have 10 right here [plus some cheesy-ass notes as an added bonus].
Looooove is in the air! But even better than that, also the smell of cherry cupcakes. Mmmm. Perfect to make for your sweetheart before the big day. And great for guys, because these babies also double-up as Simpsons-themed cupcakes.
That will be him (or, you know, you) – proceed.
Happy New Year, everyone! I’m ready for whatever the hell 2015 throws my way, and particularly happy with the way 2014 went. I’m a little sad to see it go… it was such a big year for me, personally and professionally. I made a new house a home, met Minnie, started a great job, fell in love with Daryl Dixon, adopted a vegan lifestyle, started this blog, published my first book – the list just goes on! It’s been real, 2014. You were so so good for me!
Now… hello 2015! So glad you are here, and I hope you can keep up with 2014. I thought a nice way to kick off the New Year would be to share some of my experience from when I became vegan. For some, adopting a vegan diet can be as simple as a light-switch. For others, not so much. I’m here to talk to all those “not so much” people out there! Veganuary is here, and I think now is the perfect time to give it a go.
We’re celebrating today! If you are, too, we wish you a very Merry Christmas! We will be back tomorrow with a fun local post. If you’re from New England, you won’t want to miss out :)
For now, here’s a sweetheart in a stocking. LOVE!
xx Bianca, Sara & Kate
My mother is Mrs. Claus. No joke. I can’t tell you what a shit-tastic week this was, but she comes out smiling, and with a tray full of these things:
My first question was “What are those lovely little treasures?” when it should have been “How do you find the time, miracle woman?” Here’s the scoop.
This is the last holiday gift guide of the season! Have someone in your life who loves to travel? These gifts would be great! Without further ado, for all your last-minute-shopping needs, I present…
Black Friday is the day I begin to listen to holiday music, for the most part. GOD, I LOVE IT SO MUCH. As a girl who grew up in the 90’s, I will never quite get over the sweet sounds of an NSYNC Christmas… as you can tell… there is a lot of it on the playlist. Also, Alvin and the Chipmunks are my life.
With just a couple days before Christmas, I figured I would share the playlist that has owned my life on repeat since Black Friday. Also, last minute gift wrapping?! Perfect music to accompany it.
I wish I could pull a Mariah and say “All I Want for Christmas is You,” but let’s be frank. I don’t even know you. Not to mention my pants would promptly set themselves ablaze from the bold-faced lie.
When you’re about ready to Fa-la-la-la-lock yourself in the bathroom and never come out…you’re gonna want something. It might have a high alcohol content…but know this, you’re gonna want something.
They say you should never stop dreaming. Here are my material dreamz this holiday season. Continue reading
