Hi friends – how are you guys? I can’t believe it is Labor Day weekend, where has the time gone? Even more so, how the hell is Willow going to be 1 in 2 weeks?! Insanity.
Life has been such a rollercoaster lately. Not bad, just overwhelming. A lot of stuff was up in the air for a while after our house sold. I won’t lie… I started out positive and hopeful until all the house showings started to just… make me anxious. Nothing was feeling “right” and I started to doubt this entire decision. It didn’t feel good. But here I am… ready to tell you some exciting news, because everything worked out the way it should. I really need to learn to trust the process more.
So here we go – lots of updates below the cut!
1. Moving. We sold our home for the last 5 years after just 6 days on the market. We went through a ton of houses and nothing was feeling right. I was panicking and suddenly regretting selling our house in the first place. I knew my parents would take us in and let us stay as long as we needed, but I still wanted a place to call our own. (Trust me though, we are so blessed to have had a back-up plan!)
I am happy to say that we have FINALLY found the perfect home for our family to grow in. It has all of our major “wish list” attributes and is in a great neighborhood. We are in the very early stages – we have home inspections this morning and still need to have it appraised, etc. But fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly and we should be in by the end of October. Yay!
I have been packing like a mad woman… as much as I can get done during the day with Willow in tow, but a lot of packing is done at night with the help of my husband. I’m excited to start this new adventure in a new city with our growing family. I can see us living in this home for a very long time. We would like another little sunshine sometime after Willow turns two, which gives us plenty of time to get settled and situated. It just feels like the best time for this to happen.
And I won’t lie – really happy that we’ll be in for the cozy holiday season!
2. Willow’s birthday. Two weeks away from the big day. I’ve been pretty emotional lately about it. I am sure that is normal. Looking back at all the photos and videos from the beginning makes my heart ache. But she is SO MUCH FUN these days. So much chatter and running around the house. I can’t even deal!!
Her first birthday party is Elmo-themed because oh man, this kid is in love. We actually had a Lion King theme going (she also loves Simba and all the music… it is the only movie she will actually sit and watch). But her love of Elmo has really taken off and so, you know, being a mom makes you do crazy things. So I returned all the Lion King themed items and bought Elmo. Ha! Not too much, just cake toppers, streamers, and a balloon or two… (because we are definitely do this on a budget) but still. I was more than happy to do it. I can’t wait to see her reactions because they are really great lately.
3. Peaceful Dumpling. I mentioned this on Instagram, but wanted to also mention here in case you missed it. I am so excited to say that I have become a staff writer over at Peaceful Dumpling! You can see my submissions here – there may be a new recipe or two that you might like. Aside from my posts, it is just a really cool vegan platform with a ton of awesome writers spreading the kind word. I am thrilled to be a part of it.
4. Currently watching. Fall TV is back, baby. I feel like I don’t have enough time in the world to catch up on all my favorite shows since we have been so busy packing up our life. But still, I am excited. I love the fall and TV is definitely something I really enjoy. We’re already into Better Call Saul (anyone else watch? We are obsessed) and I just finished catching up on Younger. Now I am ready for Shameless next weekend (weeeeee!) and waiting for This Is Us and Walking Dead. I know, quite an array in terms of genre, but hey. What shows are you looking forward to?
This post is getting lengthy! I think that is good for an update for now… but I will definitely be checking in on how the move is going. If I seem a bit absent on social or anything during October, you’ll know why. It’s gonna be a really busy fall, but I am embracing the change of season and changes for our family. So much transition, but I am feeling much more hopeful these days.
Love you guys and this community. Thank you so much for being here, listening, and caring. I love getting messages from you guys, so please never hesitate to shoot me a DM on Instagram. I love hearing from you and getting to know you all.
I hope life is wonderful where you are. Enjoy your weekends! xx bianca
