Who wants some warm apple crisp? Everyone, right?
We spent some time at a local orchard and I basically had to rush home to bake an apple crisp. There is nothing better than baking anything with fresh apples.
I posted this photo and wanted to share the recipe with you guys after a couple of you messaged me. It is really easy! Nothing too crazy at all. It might look like a lot of work, but I prepped this in under 15 minutes and then the house smelled incredible once it was cozy in the oven.
I hope that you enjoy the recipe as much as my family did!
Recipe
Oven: 375 F
Bake Time: 45-60 minutes
You will need:
- 5-6 apples (I used a blend of McIntosh and Macoun), peeled and sliced thin
- Juice from 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 cup date sugar (or you can use cane/raw sugar… I just had date on hand)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (again, separate from above)
- 2-3 tbs coconut oil
- 2 tbsp whole wheat flour
- 2 tbsp water
To make:
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- Prep your apples by peeling and slicing thin. Add to a large bowl.
- To large bowl of apples, add juice from 1/2 lemon, sugars, cinnamon, salt, and corn starch. Toss until all apples are evenly coated.
- In a separate bowl, add rolled oats, sugar, coconut oil (melted), whole wheat flour, and water. Toss together – the consistency/texture will be kind of like wet sand.
- Grab a pie dish and coat with non-stick spray. Cover the bottom with apples and top with your oat crumble.
- Place in the 375 F oven for about 45 minutes to an hour, or until apples are soft.
- Serve warm!
Choose your favorite non-dairy vanilla ice cream and you’re golden. My favorite is So Delicious cashew ice cream. It is sooo unbelievably creamy and pairs so beautifully with this crisp.
Put on some warm socks or whatever you need to do to cozy up and enjoy. xx bianca
