Autumn nail colors are my absolute faaavorite. There’s something so stunning about deep, jewel-tone colors! Sometimes I’ll get away with wearing dark colors in the summer, and all the girls wearing hot pinks and oranges are probably judging my dark soul. It’s fine. My three favorites for this time of year are deep red, royal purple, and forest green. Assuming you ladies are nail fanatics too, I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite cruelty-free brands and selections. Buy the bunny, baby!
The first thing we ever bought for our son was this:We had no idea what to expect out of him, or parenthood. But we hung this in his empty nursery, wanting him to remember these things above all else.
I see it as part of my job to teach my son to practice kindness. Pleases and “dank dooooo”s, sure, but in the greater scheme, kindness to all things.
Thousands and thousands of brands test their products on innocent animals. Yes, this is a reality, and we are all aware. But have you ever really stopped and thought about it? I do… all the time. If you think about it enough, it will make you sick. If you’ve looked at the pictures, you have already experienced this, I’m sure.
The worst part? Animal testing does not help humans! How could we test on a being that is not ours to test on, for no reason at all? There are other ways to test, so it is time to take a stand against animal testing, and cruelty as a whole.
Shopping cruelty-free does not have to be expensive, either. Just like all cosmetics and products, there are inexpensive and high-end brands. The key is doing the thorough research to find a product that is within your budget. There are plenty out there! You can always go online and read the latest NYX, Tarte, and Arbonne reviews, but that is just a few of the many cruelty-free brands on the market. To save you some time, we have put together a list of 50 cruelty-free companies. Many of these are tried and true by Sara and myself. We hope you will give them a shot, too!
If someone were to describe you, would you ever want them to use the word “cruel”? And if you were describing a new product to your friend that she just had to try, would you say, “I just bought the CRUELEST _____”? No!
Yet so many products out there are just that when it comes down to it. You can do your homework on animal testing if you’d like. I can’t stomach it. I cry when I watch “Homeward Bound,” and those animals are on a rad adventure! No cruelty involved. So this fact from PETA makes me want to crawl into a hole: “More than 100 million animals every year suffer and die in cruel chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics tests as well as in biology lessons, medical training exercises, and curiosity-driven medical experiments at universities.”
At the end of the day, I want to do my part in shopping cruelty free whenever possible, the end. If you do too, here’s a beginner’s Q&A on making small strides.
#BuyTheBunny – that is our theme for the month! Why? Because animal-testing is fucking despicable and unnecessary. Is that a good enough reason for you?
There are a lot of beauty products on the market. The majority of the products that are absolutely in-your-face are tested on animals [READ: TRESemme, Revlon, L’Oreal, Garnier, Almay, Neutrogena, and a ton more]. If you are not aware of the cruelty of animal testing, you may want to educate yourself a bit. If you are, then you know how frustrating it can be to find cruelty-free products! And dammit, you will not give into the companies who DO test! The struggle is real, folks. After searching for and testing a number of brands, I am glad to finally have a number of go-to products. This week, I’d love to share them with you. Get on board with us and #BuyTheBunny!!

Let’s face it: making sure everything you use in your daily routine is cruelty-free is hard. REALLY hard. You may see “not tested on animals” on the label and think you’re golden, but sadly, that isn’t always the case.
