Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler: What Willow Eats

Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler: Meal Ideas for Two Year Old

Hi friends! This will probably be the last post of what Willow is eating for a while, to be honest. Not sure if I will remember to take pics of her food as much once baby girl arrives – but hoping I will. We’ll find our groove, I’m sure. But anyways.

Here’s a look at what she’s been eating as a 2-year old toddler. Enjoy inspiration. xo

Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Spinach and zucchini quiche with some ketchup, toast with earth balance, and blueberries.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Snacking at the farmer’s market – saturn peaches, blueberries, and olive loaf. This is an old photo but I re-found it… figured I’d include.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Banana muffin bits, apple slices, and soy yogurt mixed with some peanut butter and cheerios for crunch.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Baked ziti (she ate 3 servings of this), peas, and some Italian bread… the middle only, of course.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Cashew mac and cheese, side of broccoli. She still isn’t into broccoli… but we keep trying.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Vegan chik’n patty, fries, and pickles. She’s crazy about ketchup lately, too. And you’ll see one little brussel’s sprout because… trying it for first time. Hated it, but… at least she tried it!
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Toast with jam and chia seeds and some watermelon.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Strawberries and cream oats before blending – just some oats made with canned coconut milk, ground flax, cashew cream, almond butter, and cooked strawberries (added some maple syrup, too).
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Chocolate pb chia pudding, strawberries, and toast with earth balance.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Spinach and zucchini tofu scramble, toast, and peaches.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Chocolate chip oat pancakes with syrup and some berries.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Ziti with homemade gravy, butternut squash, and tomatoes… which she doesn’t like but I just keep offering small bits.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Baked tofu bites with ketchup to dip, some olives, and there was also a veggie but it was still being prepared… I think it was sweet potato but I can’t remember!
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Chocolate chip oat pancakes (again) and 1/2 banana.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Girl loves her chocolate chia pudding.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Pancakes topped with homemade apple sauce and syrup… more apple sauce on side. She inhaled this.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Homemade vegan mac and cheese, peas, and butternut squash.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Spinach and zucchini tofu scramble, grapes, and pineapple.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Vegan cheese and tomato quesadilla with a side of salsa to dip and roasted sweet potatoes.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Spinach pies, butternut squash, and a little rice rilaf. She is iffy on rice and I only serve a little to avoid a huge mess… she didn’t eat it. lol
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
A favorite of hers lately – chickpea, veggie, and rice soup (slightly modified recipe here) with a side of bread and butter to dip.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Chocolate chia pudding with raspberries and pears.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Escarole and beans with some bread and butter. She LOVES this lately.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Chocolate strawberry nice cream for snack with some peanut butter!
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Blueberry oats! Featuring some ground flax, almond butter, banana, and coconut oil.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Dinner is some fried mushrooms, mashed potatoes, rice and peas, and corn.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Some chik’n with ketchup to dip, roasted sweet potatoes, avocado, and bread with hummus. A bit random, but it’s what we had.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Chocolate pb & banana oats.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Homemade biscuit with jam and mandarin orange slices for snack.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Tofu scramble with black beans, peppers, spinach, and onion. I actually served with a tortilla and she ate it like a burrito. I was eating mine that way and of course, she wanted her own. Pears on the side!
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Teriyaki chik’n and broccoli with a side of rice and peas.
Feeding a Plant-Based Toddler
Vegan grilled cheese with a side of lentil soup. She loves to dip.

  1. As always love the meal ideas. At what age did you start serving beans whole? I’m still nervous to but kiddo is slightly younger than Willow.

    1. Thank you! I think she was about 16-18 months maybe? I can’t remember exactly, but she has been doing great with them whole for a while now! I cook them in my crock-pot so they get very soft.
