Golden Quinoa [Turmeric]

Turmeric Quinoa Recipe

I love getting the best of both world – especially in the kitchen. This is one of those moments, because golden quinoa is protein-packed and anti-inflammatory due to the turmeric. It’s one of my new favorite go-to weekend recipes, I’ve even added it to my bulk cooking routine. AND it takes under 20 minutes to make.

And let’s state the obvious here – it’s a gorgeous color. It’s worth giving a try, and if you are not sure if you’ll like turmeric, don’t worry. It isn’t overpowering. It kinda reminds me of pepper, without the zing and with a new and improved color.


Recipe

You will need:

  • 1 cup quinoa, rinsed well
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Dash of salt and pepper
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

To make:

  • In a large pot over high heat, add all ingredients (except red pepper flakes) and bring to a boil.
  • Once boiling, lower to a simmer and let sit for about 15 minutes (or until liquid is soaked up).
  • Top with red pepper flakes (if you’d like) and serve.

This recipe honestly takes your usual side of quinoa to new heights on the health scale. It’s such an easy addition. It looks great when serving friends and family. It tastes awesome. Just make it. ;)
