You don’t have to be vegan or even vegetarian to eat more plants. No matter what your diet is, incorporating more leafy greens, fruits, and vegetables in your diet is going to ensure that you are getting all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that your body needs to function healthily and properly. I mean, it doesn’t take a scientist to know that you put into your body will not only affect what is happening inside, but on the outside as well. Your skin, mood, and aura will be brighter – I found this out quickly after I transitioned into a plant-based diet.
Since then, I’ve cut out processed foods (except for the occasional treat), white sugar, and even have gone oil-free for a bit. I can assure you – I feel best when I eat a plate full of prepared vegetables. So today, I am sharing a few reasons why you should be eating more plants.
1 // for the animals – because no one has to lose their life in order for you to live.
2 // prevention of heart disease – due to plants being a great source of soluble fiber, folic acid, and antioxidants.
3 // for the environment – it takes almost ten times more energy to produce and transport livestock than vegetables.
4 // improvement of digestion health – filling up on high-fiber fruits and vegetables help can regulate digestion and improve regularity.
5 // for healthier skin – you boost your intake of many vitamins and minerals that can help protect your skin – vitamin a is a biggie.
6 // lower risk of food poisoning – most foodborne illnesses come from animal-derived foods, including salmonella (eat all the vegan cake batter you want!)
7 // lower your cholesterol – only animal-derived foods contain cholesterol, meaning you could lower your cholesterol levels by consuming more plants and less meat and dairy.
8 // sophisticated taste buds – your taste buds will change as you begin to eat more whole and natural foods, and you’ll crave less junk.
9 // prevention of diabetes – take a second to research how a plant-based diet can help ward off type 2 diabetes.
10 // new meal ideas – you’ll never get bored because there are so many cool, new plant-based dishes to try when you make vegetables the star of the dish.
Plant life for life.
I hope you all have a beautiful rest of your week and an awesome spring weekend. I’ll be back with something new on Monday – my family is in town this week so I’ll be spending some time with them! Talk soon, loves. xx bianca
I love this post, I only wish I’d switched to a vegetarian diet sooner! I had no idea there were so many plant-based options out there until I did, but I love cooking them. I hope you’re having fun with your family! xx
I feel the same way! It’s funny how much your cooking and taste buds improve once you switching things up. I loved the challenge of having to “relearn” how and what to cook. :) xx
