A teething baby is no joke. And honestly, can you blame them? I can’t imagine the pain of a tooth breaking through skin as an adult… there is a reason why we can’t remember this stuff. Willow popped her first tooth at 8 months and Fiona just followed suit with her two bottom coming in last month.
I’m not an expert on this but I wanted to share our experience in hopes that it will help any other mama going through the same. We don’t use any teething gels or anything like that, but the below teethers have been great for both girls. Maybe these tips/products will help you and your babe, too.

#1: Silicone feeders. Simply put some fruit (or even better, frozen fruit) in the silicone feeder. Willow loooved these things when she was younger and Fiona does, too! Willow loved frozen banana and Fiona really enjoys frozen peaches or blueberries. Great distraction from the pain, while also tending to it.
#2: Icy rings. These icy rings are a lifesaver on some days. I use a pacifier clip to keep it near.
#3: Frozen wash cloth. I simply wet a wash cloth and ring it out – twist up a bit and place in freezer for about 10-15 minutes. Both girls loved this, especially Fiona.
#4: Pacifier. For Willow, I truly believe her Wubbanub was her #1 go-to for tough teething days. This whale was her favorite (she liked to chew on its tail!) I noticed she would be much more attached to it if a tooth was coming through. Fiona lined the BIBS pacifiers more than her Wubbanub, but she hasn’t taken to them as much as Willow in general.
#5: Sophie the giraffe. A given, right? Well, Willow didn’t love her much but Fiona is crazy about this fawn (same idea). So many good legs to grip and the squeak is an added bonus.
#6: Comotomo teether. What I love about this teether is that it kind of looks like fingers and I think both girls appreciate(d) that since they both always had/have their fingers in their mouth.
At the and of the day, my number one trick during a tough teething period… just keep that baby happy! Just keep on giving all the love, snuggles, and attention on the tough days (you can tell, trust me). The more distractions and fun, the better. Lots of peek-a-boo, sing-a-longs, the works. I swear, it keeps everyone sane.
What are some teething tricks you swear by? We’re far from done with teething on Fiona’s end so I’d love to add some tricks to my own arsenal. xx bianca
