The Best Vegan Alternatives on the Market

Best Vegan Alternatives on the Market

We live in a world that has more vegan alternative and options than ever before. The world is catching on and companies with shared values continue to emerge. Whether new or old, companies are making an effort to provide products to vegans. It is a step in the right direction and I believe we can only go up from here.

Whether you are new to eating vegan or are just looking to try some new products, here are some of my personal top choices. I love trying new vegan foods – especially when I have a craving for something that might not be vegan. It happens to some of us, and that is okay. If you are on the fence about going vegan because you think you’ll miss certain things, it is worth trying some of these to see what you think.

In my opinion, these are the best vegan alternatives on the market.

Cheese

Follow Your Heart. So many flavors, melts great, and has a number of other cheesy products. You can get slices, blocks, and shreds. You can’t go wrong with Follow Your Heart!

Field Roast. Chao cheese is just behind Follow Your Heart because yes, it is flavorful, creamy, and melts well. But the only downside is that they do not have half as many flavors as Follow your Heart.

Miyokos. If you are looking for gourmet cheese that is bursting with flavorful, beautiful, elegant, and unique… Miyokos is it. The perfect vegan cheese for party platters.

Sour Cream

Tofutti. It’s the only brand I have had for vegan sour cream, but I don’t mind. I love it that much.

Ice Cream

Ben and Jerry’s. Nothing will ever compare or beat Ben and Jerry’s (for me personally). If you want ice cream that reminds you of the ice cream you know and love, this is it.

So Delicious Cashew. So Delicious has a ton of ice cream products, almond, soy, and coconut base included, but the cashew base is unstoppable. The Snickerdoodle flavor is out of this world.

Dream. The Almond Dream vanilla dessert bites are an awesome treat.

Haagen-Dazs. I just recently tried the non-dairy peanut butter chocolate fudge bar and yeah, they are as amazing as they sound.

Mayo

Just Mayo. The original and chipotle mayo are awesome. I am a mayo person (ask my husband) and this tastes better than regular mayo.

Follow Your Heart. Is Vegenaise the original vegan mayo? I am not sure… I feel like it is. But at any rate, it is tried and true.

Trader Joe’s. Did you know that Trader Joe’s carries a vegan mayo? I actually really enjoy theirs – more than I thought I would.

Milk

Silk Cashew. Cashew is the creamiest, in my opinion. You can find this brand in most groceries stores.

Trader Joe’s Almond. I LOVE the Trader Joe’s brand of almond milk. I don’t know what the difference is, but it just tastes better than other brands to me. I buy it unsweetened.

Ripple. Ripple is a pea protein milk and it is super creamy, delicious, and full of nutrients and good stuff. I give this brand to Willow more often than not.

Cream Cheese

Tofutti. This is the most known brand I am sure and that is with good reason. It is pretty much flawless, in my opinion. Taste, texture, everything.

Trader’s Joe’s. Trader Joe’s cream cheese is a close second for me. It tastes different than Tofutti for sure, but not a bad different. It is a bit sweeter because it is made with coconut, maybe?

Yogurt

Forager. I grab Cashewgurt at Whole Foods every once in a while. I just love anything that is made with cashews… this yogurt included.

Silk Soy or Coconut. I really love the soy flavors best when it comes to Silk but coconut isn’t bad, either. A lot of options and can be found at a lot of grocery stores.

Creamy Dressing

Follow Your Heart. Follow Your Heart is the King of creamy dressings, in my opinion. I am in love with both the Ranch and Bleu Cheese flavors – you wouldn’t even know they were vegan.

Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s carries an amazing vegan dressing called Goddess dressing. It is pretty much a staple.

Mac and Cheese

Amy’s. This is the best frozen vegan and mac and cheese I’ve ever had. I don’t have it very often (once or twice a year, if that) but oh man. If you miss mac and cheese, this is the brand you need.

Daiya. Cheddar or white cheddar, take your pick.

Burgers

Beyond Meat. The most believable, to me. If that is what you’re looking for… this is the burger for you. They also carry the Beast Burger, which is also awesome.

Lightlife. I like all Lightlife products, these burgers included.

Chicken

Beyond Meat. Again, you can’t beat Beyond Meat products. The “chicken strips” are awesome.

Gardein. Gardein seven grain crispy tenders are pretty nostalgic for me (I always loved chicken fingers as a kid). These are very good with some dipping sauce.

Deli Meat

Lightlife. Lightlife has a wide variety of “deli” type slices. You can’t go wrong with the “turkey” or the chickpea and red pepper slices.

Tofurky. They also have a lot of options, but my favorite is by far the hickory smoked slices. These are good to have in a pinch for lunch.

Sausage/Chorizo

Field Roast. Pick your flavor, because any of the ones that I’ve had by Field Roast have been awesome.

Lightlife. The Gimme Lean Sausage works wonderful to make your own patties.

Trader Joe’s. The Trader Joe’s soy chorizo is probably one of my favorite meat substitutes on the market. It is so flavorful with the right amount of spice. It’s the perfect taco filling.

Frozen Pizza

Daiya. To be honest, this is the only brand of frozen vegan pizza that I have had, but I don’t even mind because all of the flavors I’ve had so far have been great. So many choices for your next pizza night.

Cheesy Snacks

Earth Balance Squares. You won’t even miss Cheez-Its with these babies.

Earth Balance Cheese Puffs. I was a sucker for cheese puffs as a kid and these definitely satisfied a craving as an adult.

Beanfields. If you are looking for a Dorito’s alternative, these bean nacho chips are pretty much identical – but better.

Vegan Jerky

Louisville. I talk all about Louisville here. I am not a big jerky fan, but these are amazingly flavorful. If you liked jerky and miss it, try Louisville! So many flavors.

Let me know if you agree or have other favorites. I’d love some recommendations – there’s nothing better than trying new products. xx bianca

  1. This is an awesome post! I love seeing what other vegans are eating. Some of my other favorites are Field Roast’s Mac & Chao (this is frozen mac and cheese) and American Flatbread’s Farmers Tomato Pie when I’m craving pizza. For yogurt, I eat So Delicious brand every day with lunch!

    1. Thank you so much, Molly! I haven’t tried the Mac and cheese you speak of… OMG. I NEED IT. I am gonna have to look for it!! xo
